SITS has teamed up with Adopt-a-Pet to keep more animals out of our overcrowded shelters.

The animals listed on this page are available through Rehome, Adopt-a-Pet's peer-to-peer adoption program that helps local pet owners find new homes for their furry friends without ever stepping foot inside a shelter.

The pets featured through Rehome are not in the care of a rescue and instead remain with their original owners until they find the perfect place to call home. If you have questions about a specific animal or are interested in setting up a meet-and-greet, please reach out to the owner listed on that pet’s profile directly.

DISCLAIMER

Rehome by Adopt-a-Pet connects individuals who are rehoming their pets with interested adopters while the animal remains in the owner's care. As these are courtesy listings, Sanctuary in the South (SITS) is not responsible for the pets posted through Rehome. All information in the pet profile has been provided by that animal's caregiver and the rescue does not verify its accuracy. It is the responsibility of a potential adopter to obtain/verify the pet's medical and behavioral history by communicating with the current owner directly through the Rehome by Adopt-a-Pet platform.

We understand that life doesn't always go as planned.

If you're facing the decision to surrender your pet, try the Rehome platform instead. Our local animal controls are facing record-high intake numbers, and there are few things as stressful for an animal as the shelter environment. Sadly, this means that owner surrenders are often the most at risk dogs at the shelter. With assistance from Rehome, your four-legged friend can skip the shelter stay altogether and get back to what really matters: finding the most comfortable spot on the couch.
