![ONE YEAR OF FIGHTING FOR PENNY š
A year ago today, we pulled Penny from animal control. We didnāt know it at the time, but a longgg fight for her health began at that very moment.
When we committed to Penny, we knew she would be a medical case. The vet who assessed her while she remained at animal control guessed she suffered from some sort of spinal trauma; whatever the injury was, it caused her to knuckle so severely on one of her back legs that her paw was constantly torn and bloody from dragging on the pavement. She could barely walk. We thought this would be her biggest hurdle but somehow, it was the easiest to tackleā¦
Penny was also so malnourished that you couldnāt just count her ribs, you could count every bone in body. We figured that like for so many other rescue pups, this was due to years of neglect. We were wrong.
